About
Forest Name: Jóngeir (do not call him this)
City Name: Apollo
Race: Viera (Rava)
Age: 200+ years (Nearing 300, though he has long since lost count.)
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual
Height: 6'1" (186 cm)
Job: Bard
Occupation: Retainer, trader, adventurer/travelerAppearance: Deeply tanned skin and long fluffy golden blond hair, with one emerald green eye and one golden yellow eye. Bit of a baby face. Extensive black tattoos along his arms, torso, and legs. He is never seen without the pendant by the left side of his face, and both his ears are usually adorned with cuffs and chains. In his current era, he’s chosen to present masculine and is quite solidly muscled. And of course, you can’t forget his fluffy pointed tail.
Personality
Perhaps jarring considering his true age, Apollo acts quite young and free-spirited, playing hard and going wherever his whims lead him. Although he is deeply wise and experienced, he is reluctant to give advice unless he feels it is absolutely necessary to prevent someone from making a terrible mistake. This experience also makes him highly perceptive when it comes to others: often able to read people like a book, but keeping such observations to himself. He takes no bullshit, but instead of choosing conflict, he simply prefers to terminate it as fast as possible or remove himself from the situation, usually with a devil-may-care attitude. He enjoys being surrounded by people, even if he's not involved in goings-on.He is quite flirty, but actually doesn’t sleep around all that often and is generally uninterested in deeper attachments. He is particularly antsy when it comes to fellow Golmore-raised Viera, and avoids non-platonic entanglements with others of his kin. He is also adamant about separating work and play, and will rebuff people who approach him when he’s working or in the Warrior of Light’s presence.

Positive traits: cheerful, playful, patient, slow to anger, helpful if he's in the right mood, high wisdom and intelligence, loves music and is good at both playing and singing, prefers to be kind and affable instead of starting conflict or driving people awayNegative traits: standoffish when moody, a bit condescending with those who are younger but haven't proven their maturity (especially fellow Viera), tends to treat people as transient due to having seen many people come and go in his lifetime, does whatever he wants whenever he wants with little care for the future unless there's something useful in it for him, bad habit of getting up and leaving without explaining himself if he's uncomfortable or done with a situation
Lore

Jóngeir had always known something was wrong with him. Or perhaps not wrong with him, per se: but he never felt quite like the other Viera men in his village. Though he dutifully became a Wood-warder and lived in solitude as was customary when he was young, all of that changed when he and his mate had their first child. Finding himself unable to stay away from his new little family, he would often visit them in secret, something his mate was surprisingly encouraging of. This turned out to be a bittersweet boon when his mate lost her life in a tragic accident early in the child’s life. Though the child was raised by the other women in the village, Jóngeir continued to visit them, and when the child came of age, their close relationship resulted in her asking her father to name her: Sunna, after the golden sun-like hair they shared. For fifty years, they lived peacefully in their slice of the Golmore jungle. This happiness, however, was not to last, as Sunna was one day overwhelmed by savage beasts who had recently migrated near the village looking for prey. Jóngeir was but a second too late to prevent his daughter’s death, spearing the last creature through the heart. With her wounds too severe to be aided by any lifesaving measures, he held Sunna in his arms as she passed away.Profoundly affected by the loss and with nothing left to tie him to his village, Jóngeir decided to abandon the Word of the Wood altogether. Leaving Golmore for good, he took on a new name in Sunna’s memory: Apollo, god of the sun.Apollo’s wanderings took him all over Etheirys: before the Garlean Empire’s formation, he had few things to bar his way or complicate his travel. As likely the only Viera that most people of the era had ever or would ever see, most people and nations welcomed him with curiosity, if not open arms. He witnessed Nidhogg’s rampage across the Northlands, picked up archery and barding in Gridania, and found himself caught up in the Autumn War fighting alongside the Eorzean Alliance. Swearing to never involve himself in another such conflict, he left the Three Great Continents entirely as the Garlean Empire gained power and disappeared into Meracydia, only emerging several decades later to return to Eorzea and start yet another new life for himself.Currently, Apollo occupies himself as the Warrior of Light’s retainer. Although he steadfastly refuses to take part in armed conflict, he uses his many connections established with people across Aldenard, Othard, and the Far East over the course of his wanderings to assist her in any manner possible.
- Doesn't actually make an effort to make his age apparent, and in fact is often mistaken for a much younger man.
- If questioned about his age, he’ll say that he’ll simply decide someday that he’s 300, as he knows he’s late in his 200s but not sure of the exact number.
- He is very much a city Viera, which may bring him in conflict with those who are more traditional.
- He picked up archery out of guilt for not being able to help Sunna from a distance, and discovered a love for music that led him to becoming a bard.
- He is very tight lipped about his past, especially his family from Golmore. It would take a very close connection and/or a lot of trust for him to confide in someone about losing his daughter.
- He’s actually been in a few semi-serious relationships, but nowadays, it takes a lot to hold his attention.
- He has a very beautiful singing voice, but while speaking, he has quite an odd accent. It’s mostly the trademark Viera accent, but due to several decades spent in Meracydia, it has a definite foreign bent to it, and he uses a lot of strange slang. [It’s an Australian accent.]
- It’s worth remembering that even though he avoids fighting, he is a nearly 300-year-old warrior. He’s more than capable of not only defending himself against beastkin and man alike, but it would be an unwise decision to pick a physical fight with him.
- He knows the randomest people, and has contacts all over Etheirys. Even some dubious ones...
Hooks

Someone from your past: Apollo is old as hell and has traveled all over Etheirys. He may have met you already. Or your parents. Or your parents' parents...
Sketchy dealer: Apollo is very good at acquiring things, and it's probably best not to ask him where or how he gets them...but his skills are available for the right price.
WoL Echo Vision: Warriors of Light or those with the Echo may receive visions of Apollo's past. Depending on what it is, he may be willing to regale you with a tale.
Again, old as hell: Apollo would be a great source to consult on historical events like the Autumn War, although how useful his memories are will probably vary.
OOC
Hello! Thanks for checking out my carrd. I'm Aby, 21+ she/her who has been writing and rping for a decade. I'm in EST and most active 7p-12a.
- I'm OK with both long and short term plots
- In-game is OK, prefer Discord (jizzblasterdan - yes, that's not a joke.)
- I prefer not to do pwp: ERP is ok, but I would like for it to be secondary to the plot. Otherwise mature and dark content is OK if discussed first. (Obviously, 18+ partners only)
-Please respect Apollo's lore, I am flexible and it's mostly MSQ compliant but there may be a few details/mannerisms that don't fit canon setting (not meta, mostly in relation to music) (obviously if your muse is the WoL that part of his lore can change)
- I am open to shipping Apollo, but it would have to fit both characters very well. I would also love to do platonic pairings!
- I prefer multi-para, but I mirror. I also love writing dialogue, so responses may be shorter during conversation
- I'm always down to run content, IC or OOC! (I don't tank, though.)
- It's OK to refer to me as he/him when talking about Apollo just to keep things confusion-free :)
- Please understand that if I choose to end an RP, it's not personal. It's very difficult for me to write if I'm not feeling it, and I don't want to waste anyone's time.
Feel free to say hi! I'm always up for just chatting and making new friends. I am not interested in OOC romance, so please keep IC separate.
